 NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Workers in New Orleans took down a Confederate monument to Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard early Wednesday as onlookers watched from lawn chairs, while defiant monument supporters waved Confederate battle flags and monument opponents celebrated.
