Daniel here.   Before I nod off to sleep on the end of SDCC 2012 preview night I wanted to let you know about some of what I learned tonight.

HASBRO – MARVEL

Marvel Legends wave 3 and beyond.   While it’s true that there is not a build a figure in wave 3, mostly because of development timing, that does NOT mean they are gone for good.  They will return.  There will be some new “gimmick” added to the line next year.  Don’t know what it is yet, but we will find out in the Hasbro Marvel panel.

Marvel Universe is still going strong.  It’s not dying off as some out there have suggested.  Hasbro knows they had some distribution problems with the line this year and they are working to resolve them.

MATTEL

Mattel had 3 preview night reveals.  One was the finished MOTUC Granimyr.  Two was the MOTUC Weapons Pack III and thirdly was both the DCUC All-Star wave and the Batman figure.  4 could have been MOTUC Mosquitor, but the figure in the display case was still headless and the Mighty Spector was sitting on him! Speaking of which…

Looks like the great “costume off” between Toy Guru and Pixel-Dan will happen on Friday.   Dan will presumably be in his Mosqitor costume and Scott will be dressed in his newly created Mighty Spector costume.

DC COLLECTIBLES

The new DCC 3.75″ line MIGHT NOT end up as a con only line.   They want to hear the feedback on that at the show.  If this first set sells really well at the show they will know there is a market for it.  They started out with the Green Lantern universe, but they plan to expand it to their on line stores.  But the “Con Only” is not set in stone.
