Katy Perry sorta has a lot going for her right now. She's maybe dating John Mayer, she's about to take a long and luxurious vacation (much deserved!), she's physically capable of looking THIS PRETTY, oh, and she's nominated for a whopping four VMAs, including a Video Of The Year nod for "Wide Awake." So, to celebrate that, and basically her entire life, we've got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" video.

In the behind-the-scenes footage, we see a calm Katy explain that the French video director doesn't speak much English, yet they're gonna make this thing work! We get close-ups of goth Katy as she wanders her way through the video's complex labyrinth, and we see her getting decked out in her long black gown that opens the scene. Katy then goes on to explain that the biggest challenge for this video was making it 3D compatible, followed by a quick a how-to lesson in 3D filming techniques that we didn't understand one bit.

Aww-dorable scenes then show Katy bonding with "Wide Awake"'s child actress. Not only does she act like a big sis, but Katy and her new little pal share a sweet moment when they both get really excited to play with a fake unicorn. (Can't blame them there!) Most importantly, Katy confesses that she got hit in the face with a shoe while filming.
