So let the call go out: Avengers Assemble!

For a character that spent years unable to physically touch another person for fear of absorbing their powers and memories, Rogue sure has a tendency to hang out with a lot of super folks.

A longtime member of various X-Men incarnations, Rogue first appeared in 1981's AVENGERS ANNUAL #10 as a bad guy, but soon made good and turned into a seminal player in the Marvel Universe. With UNCANNY AVENGERS #1 she returns to the franchise that birthed her as part of a new team made up of both X-Men and Avengers.

While parts of her history remain a mystery, we do know one important thing about Rogue: she likes switching up her costume. While she's had a few iconic looks, the mighty mutant still has plenty of old uniforms on the hanger in her closet.

Green Hood

When Rogue debuted in AVENGERS ANNUAL #10, she attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes along with Mystique's new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. This first appearance set up what would be a pattern for Rogue's looks: a full body suit, including gloves and a hood in green and white. She also rocked the white shock of hair that became another character trademark. While the specifications and length of her hair have changed over her 30 year existence, many of those same elements remain.

Black Spandex Variations

After getting her head on straight thanks to the help of Professor X and officially joining the X-Men in UNCANNY X-MEN #171, Rogue went through a series of costumes, most of which involved her sporting a black body suit and some sort of green shirt/pants/skirt/shorts items on top. One time she even sported a brown poncho. During this time, Rogue also decided to grow her hair out into the shoulder length do she's most associated with.

90’s Jacket Look

After a few more changes here and there, Rogue's most iconic outfit made its debut in X-MEN #1. Her biggest departure to date, this costume still had green in it, but mostly consisted of yellow in the body suit area with brighter green accents on the arms and legs. She also wore a loose X-logo belt and a brown, waist-length jacket to cover up a bit. Aside from Anna Paquin's black costume from the X-Men films, this is probably what most people think of when they hear Rogue's name.

X-Treme Rogue

Following a tumultuous period of power alterations, romantic entanglements with Gambit and more, Rogue joined the cast of X-TREME X-MEN on adventures to find Destiny's diaries. She followed the group decision to all dress alike, this time switching to a red and blue bodysuit and a blue jacket. She also sported red sunglasses and a shoulder length haircut.  

Back to Basics

For much of the 2000’s and into the 2010’s, Rogue wore variations on her 90’s jacket costume—with varying lengths to said jacket—and the green hooded one that she wore for most of “Messiah Complex” and into X-MEN LEGACY. This outfit morphed from almost a replica of the original into something a bit more stylish with a miniskirt, boots, a long white scarf and opera gloves that actually revealed the skin of her upper arms.

Uncanny Avengers

While the details as to how and why Rogue joins the new Uncanny Avengers team remain a secret for now, it’s clear from the first cover of the Rick Remender-written, John Cassaday-drawn series that she's a part of the team that also includes Thor, Captain America, Havok, Wolverine and The Scarlet Witch. From the looks of things, Rogue will sport the classic green hooded costume she's worn a version of for much of her career.
