Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Shredder #2 Figure Review

I stopped at my local Target today and happened upon a new release for the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” figure line by Playmates. This is the second Shredder in the action figure line and if you bought him the first time around this figure would be a considerable upgrade.

I held out on the first release because I didn’t like the fact that he didn’t come with a cape. I’m glad I did because this guy is a perfect figure and one of the coolest toys on the shelves.

ThisĀ figure comes with a removable helmet, giving you the ability to showcase his gruesome face, permanently scarred by Master Splinter (I hope that’s not a spoiler). This second release also includes a cape that the first version did not have.

I really love the face sculpt and paint apps, they truly capture his disfigurement.

He doesn’t have the same articulation as the Turtle figures, giving him a limited range in poses but I’m fine with that.

While I didn’t take a picture of it, his cape is removable if the mood should strike you.

Besides being evil, it isn’t explained why his eyes are so spooky in the show, not that I need an explanation, but he has creepy eyes that translated very well onto this figure.

I was looking forward to this figure and bummed I missed out on the San Diego Comic Con Exclusive version. I’m very happy with this version and think the overall line is tubular. I should mention that the show itself is pretty radical as well and worth watching. They’ve done a great job of creating a world for the Turtles to live in and have set up some great story arcs for the characters. Both the show and this figure are highly recommended!

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you dig the line? The show? Me?
