Nerdist.com debuts music video for “Tacky,” a parody of Pharrell’s “Happy”
July 14 2014 – Burbank, CA – “Weird Al” Yankovic, Jack Black, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho and Aisha Tyler in a music video together? Yes, please! Nerdist is thrilled to exclusively premiere the music video for “Tacky,” the first track from “Weird Al” Yankovic’s new album, Mandatory Fun, releasing tomorrow, Tuesday, July 15 on RCA Records.
Filmed in the famed, historic Palace Theatre in Downtown LA, the music video for “Tacky” finds Weird Al back in his element, taking one of the biggest songs on the Billboard charts and transforming it into a hilarious, incredibly catchy parody as only Weird Al can do.
“Al has ALWAYS been one of my idols,” said Chris Hardwick, Founder and CEO, Nerdist Industries. “If you had told teenage me that I would one day not only be friends with him but also get to produce a video for him, my young brain wouldn’t have been able to process it. I have watched “Tacky” dozens of times and I can’t stop singing it. I LOVE YOU AL.”
Directed by the legendary parodist himself and produced by Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick, Seth Laderman, and Johnny Wickham, “Tacky” is the first of Mandatory Fun’s #8videos8days campaign, during which the beloved musician will release 8 brand-new music videos for 8 songs from his new album.
“Weird Al has consistently released some of the best comedic music in the industry, and we look forward to collaborating with him again in the very near future,” said SVP of Content and Operations Seth Laderman.
So, go ahead and check out the video. If you don’t, you’re being pretty tacky.
