Assassin’s Creed Unity Patch 4 Is 6.7 GB, Arrives Today On Xbox One and PS4

The fourth patch for Assassin's Creed Unity, which was originally expected to launch yesterday before being put on hold, will arrive today, Ubisoft announced on the game's website this afternoon. We already knew the patch, which aims to clear up most of the game's remaining issues, was a big one, but now we know just how big. Ubisoft explains that the patch is a whopping 6.7 GB. It's that big in part because Ubisoft needed to fully replace parts of the Paris map that were facing frame rate issues.

"Part of the team's effort to enhance frame rate for players involves replacing and updating portions of the Paris city map where we are seeing issues," Ubisoft said. "This explains the large size of this title update (6.7 GB). However, since a large portion of the patch replaces existing files the net increase to the game’s overall size will be less than 6.7 GB."

A quick-hit rundown of Unity Patch 4 is available below, courtesy of Ubisoft, while you can see the full patch notes at the game's forums.

  • Performance & Stability: Frame rate drops, game crashes, lost progression
  • Gameplay: Navigation, lock picking chests
  • Online: Connectivity, matchmaking, companion app

Unity Patch 4 is available today across Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and it should come to PC "later in the week," Ubisoft said.

Unity was released in November, though it--like other big-name games this year--suffered through some technical troubles out of the gate. Ubisoft has released a number of patches so far, and is even offering up free DLC and full-games to apologize for the bugs.
