Gentle Giant take great delight in blowing up your childhood… but not in a bad way, in an amazing JUMBO way!  Today, on “Toy Fair Eve,” the good people at Gentle Giant ltd, have have two fantastic pre-Toy Fair announcements that they are letting us debut here on AFi.

Gentle Giant ltd. has had tremendous success with their JUMBO line of vintage action figures starting with the original Kenner Star Wars figures.  That line has been going strong for almost 5 years.   Last year at Comic Con they announced they were taking their Jumbo format to the vintage Hasbro G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line.   At the end of last year they announced they would apply the Jumbo format to the vintage Mattel Marvel Secret Wars line.

For this new announcement they are stepping out of the 80’s and into the 90’s with another beloved Kenner action figure line:

Batman: The Animated Series Collection

In the fall of 1992, a new animated series debuted from Warner Bros. Animation on weekday afternoons. It would go on to leave a lasting impact on one of DC’s most enduring franchises.

Batman: The Animated Series took place in a Gotham very much influenced by the Tim Burton films, but added its own unique blend of film noir and “dark deco” elements. Characters in this world were developed with a layered complexity rarely seen in animated television at the time. Audiences and critics quickly embraced the series during its 85 episode run.

Gentle Giant Ltd. celebrates this much loved television show with the launch of this Jumbo line, Batman: The Animated Series figures. Based on digital scans of the original 1993 Kenner 5” action figures, this Jumbo line stands 12” tall in 1/6 scale.

The Kenner Batman: The Animated Series line holds a very special place in my heart.  I had a brief 2-year break in my life when I stopped actively collecting action figures and the Kenner Batman Animated line is what got me started again… and I’ve never stopped!    The Kenner Batman line is also what made me start writing about toys on the internet as news was very hard to come by in those days.

As you can imagine I’m very excited to see this line, but we have to wait until the beginning of 2016!  We will keep you posted on all updates for this awesome new jumbo line of action figures.
