On Wednesday, July 8, customers are invited to Barnes & Noble stores nationwide for a special buy two get the third free offer on all DC Comics graphic novels that runs through Sunday, July 12. The week continues with the release of the highly anticipated limited-edition Comic Convention Collectibles on Thursday, July 9, giving customers the chance to pick up exclusive collectibles from Diamond Select Toys, Funko, Titans and more.

Pop culture fans will love this week’s Throwback Thursday, celebrating the 1960s with activities including a 1960s-style Barrel of Monkeys event, as well as special content giveaways including an exclusive 16-page mini-edition of Remind magazine. Throwback Thursday 1960s will also celebrate the unique impact that Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird had on that decade, leading into an exciting Harper Lee celebration, July 13 and 14. Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will read Harper Lee’s classic To Kill a Mockingbird from start to finish in a special Read-A-Thon event on Monday, July 13, the eve of the highly anticipated release of Go Set a Watchman. And on Tuesday, July 14, for the release of Go Set a Watchman, all Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will open at 7am so customers can get their copy first, and between 7am and 10am customers will get a free tall cup of hot coffee with the purchase of Go Set a Watchman.

DC Comics Days – Wednesday, July 8, through Sunday, July 12

DC Comics Days celebrates the work of comic book giant DC Comics, creator of a pantheon of massively popular characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Flash, as well as superhero teams the Justice League, the Watchmen and the Teen Titans. Starting Wednesday, July 8, customers are invited to Barnes & Noble for an incredible special offer of buy two get the third free on all DC Comics graphic novels through Sunday, July 12. They can also get a free Young Gotham comic collection and poster, while supplies last.

Throwback Thursday 1960s – Thursday, July 9

New to Get Pop-Cultured this year, and the cornerstone of the Get Pop-Cultured campaign, customers are invited to Barnes & Noble every Thursday in July for a nostalgic journey through the most iconic moments in pop culture from the 1950s through the 1990s. This week it’s the 1960s and all stores nationwide will be hosting fun themed activities including a special 1960s-style Barrel of Monkeys event, in which the game will do its best to live up to the promise of being “More fun than a barrel of monkeys.” Customers should contact their local Barnes & Noble for more details on what events will be taking place to celebrate the 1960s.

The Read-A-Thon will feature a variety of special guest readers, including local authors and celebrities in select stores. Highlights include Wally Lamb and Leslie Uggams in conversation with Bill Goldstein at our Union Square store in New York City and Barnes & Noble Discover author Cynthia Bond, Joely Fisher, Annabelle Gurwitch and Attica Locke in conversation with Amy Bradley at our Grove store in Los Angeles. On July 14, Harper Lee’s highly anticipated new novel, Go Set a Watchman, goes on sale. Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will open early at 7am so customers can get their copy first, and customers who visit the Barnes & Noble Café from 7am to 10am will get a free tall hot coffee with their purchase of Go Set a Watchman. Plus, the first 20 customers to buy the book in every store will receive a free exclusive To Kill a Mockingbird reusable tote.
