Meet Kat Dahlia. She's a "Gangsta."
Late pass alert! Miami-raised Kat Dahlia's bumpin' new single "Gangsta" came out over the holidays, but apparently we were too busy gaining 26 pounds, opening socks again presents, and gearing up for the "Buckwild" premiere to notice -- OUR BAD! Now that things have calmed down a bit, we feel it's crucial to bring both Kat and "Gangsta" to your attention.
Listen to Kat Dahlia's "Gangsta" after the jump.
Even though she kinda looks like Dev, Kat actually seems like a hip-hop Lana Del Rey crossed with the innate hardness (and affection for, um, magic cigarettes) of Rihanna. Set to a menacing, somber track, Kat sing-raps in a deep, rich bass tone about her youth and growing up in Florida. And did we mention that the song's hook is essentially an homage to 50 Cent's "Wanksta?" Because if you, like us, were praying for that song to have a Renaissance, then today's basically like your birthday, your bat mitzvah, and your wedding day all wrapped up into one: "You say you a gangsta/ That don't impress me none/ Ain't seen a thing you done/ I do it all myself/ I ain't getting help from no one." Nor does she need it, y'all. Keep an eye out for this one. Also, 50 Cent, CALL THE GIRL FOR A COLLABO, WOULDJA?
