Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was originally a comic book series from DC Comics, and more recently, it became an animated film. Now, the characters from the epic crossover are a toy line, available exclusively at GameStop.

Thus far, two of these two-packs have been released: Batman & Leonardo, and Robin & Raphael. And arriving on October 7 is Batgirl & Donatello. DC Collectibles sent us all three packs to check out.

There are still two more packs coming in the future: Michelangelo & Alfred--releasing November 4--and Ra's Al Ghul & Shredder--releasing December 12.

Robin & Raphael

At first glimpse, the packaging is nothing too exciting. It simply displays what you're buying. Obviously, these toys were meant to be taken out of the box.

It's a good display of all the tiny accessories you will be getting inside. Seriously, these accessories are super-small, and if you're not careful, you'll lose some right away.

Robin

The one thing this line really has going for it is the style. Damian Wayne looks great here, and he comes with a lot of accessories. The problem is that they're really small, and it's a bit hard to get the different hands onto the figure. It can become a bit frustrating.

While there is a "hood up" head option for Robin, you can see the hood down on the figure. This is removable, which is a nice touch.

Raphael

Out of everything we saw with these figures, Raphael felt the most sturdy and well put together. The accessories all fit in the interchangable hands and the hands themselves were easy to change out.

What's really cool about the Raph figure is that his sais can be stored in his belt.

Batman & Leonardo

Onto Batman and Leonardo. Again, bland packaging.

Leonardo

Much like Raph, Leonardo is a real sturdy figure, with two sets of extra hands, and two swords, complete with a sheath. The problem here is that the sheath pops off Leo's side very easily. But much like everything else in this line, I really enjoy the design.

Batman

So many tiny accessories. The Batfamily loves their gadgets. The head of Batman figure that was sent to us pops off pretty easily. There are some other issues with loose ball joints in this line as well, but Batman was the worst.

Batman

Out of everything we've seen in this line, Batman's cape was the only cloth piece. It works a lot better that I expected, as most Batman toys from DC Collectibles have plastic or vinyl capes.

Batgirl & Donatello

Donatello

The Donnie figure sent to us was a tad problematic at start. The legs and hips fell off the torso after taking it out of the packaging. Luckily, it was pretty easy to get them back on. There was another issue with Donatello: the bo staff. It was a huge struggle to get it into his hand, as it was too big to fit in. When I finally got it into place, I noticed it had striped some of the paint off.

Donatello

This brought me to yet another problem, on the backside of the figure. There is a slot to hold Donnie's bo staff on his back. It does not fit in, no matter how hard you try. The bo is simply too big. Regardless of the bo staff problem, Donatello's design is great, as is the paint job on the figure.

Batgirl

Out of all the BatFamily figures sent our way, Batgirl was my favorite. The design of the toy is fantastic, and while it is a slender figure, it stands exceptionally well. The only problem comes from all the accessories. It's a lot, and I'll never use it. Although, I do love that Babs' cell phone is here.

Batgirl

Batgirl's cape isn't cloth, and that's perfect for the figure, as she doesn't need to flowing cape.

Final Thoughts: Bat Family

Out of the three we saw, Batman was actually the weakest of the bunch, but not by much. I love the variation in size between the three figures. Everything actually feels in scale with the animated movie and comic books, along with the look.

The biggest problem with this lot is all the tiny accessories. One set of extra hands makes sense, but two, not so much. The amount of other accessories should have been scaled back a tad as well. Otherwise, these are pretty great collectibles.

Final Thoughts: TMNT

Raphael is a fantastic figure from top to bottom. Out of all the Batman vs. TMNT figures, this one was the best with no problems. Plus, his extra head was pretty awesome. And again, the look and design is a great translation from the animated movie.

Leonardo and Donatello has a few problems on their own though. The problem really came from the necessary accessories. The Turtles' weapons should be functional. It shouldn't be a struggle to get them in a position to be displayed.

Overall, the Batman vs. TMNT line is very cool, but it's also pricey. $20 is many people's limit for a single collectible figure. Now, DC Collectible's products are always a bit more high-end compared to something from Hasbro or Mattel, which is going to make it cost a bit more. So $50 for a two-pack isn't totally outrageous if you love both Batman and TMNT. These are great-looking, high-quality figures that have some flaws, most minor. It's worth the cost of admission.
