After multiple delays, Irrational Games' new action-shooter approved by Sony and Microsoft for release March 26.
BioShock Infinite has gone gold. After three years of development and multiple delays, Irrational Games' latest action-shooter has been approved by Sony and Microsoft for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC next month on March 26.
"Nobody has ever built a game quite like this," Irrational Games cofounder Ken Levine wrote in a blog post. "Its a shooter, but a shooter that brings you to very uncomfortable and dangerous places. I cant demand that you play the game; I can promise you, however, that once you have, it will be an experience you wont soon forget."
BioShock Infinite was announced in August 2010 with a 2012 release window attached. In March 2012, an October 16, 2012, release date for the game was chosen. However, the game would later be delayed to February 26, 2013, and then again to March 26.
When BioShock Infinite ships next month, it will do so with great sales expectations. One analyst has suggested the game would be a significant financial boon for publisher Take-Two, saying it could ship 4.9 million copies.
