As we open the 6th box in our brick of 10, we get 5 new pieces. Cadmus Lab Scientist (common), the Joker (common), Lex Luthor (the real Lex) (uncommon) Aquaman (uncommon) and Hawkgirl(rare). 5 new pieces is always a reason to cheer when opening a box.
The Cadmus Scientist serves the role of a generic, which are often useful in multiples and for that reason players often collect multiples of them. It’s never bad to pull a generic. And this one has a power called “The Doomsday Sanction”. And he kind of looks like a professor we know.
Joker’s in game play is amazingly tied into the show. How? For a minimal extra cost, you can include 2 extra copies of this Joker to your team. They become the “time bombs on the strip.” And all 3 copies can bring in more copies, giving you more chances of a bomb going off. Its that episode where he collects the Royal Flush Gang. Joker also has powers called “don’t touch that remote” and “I’m immune because I am already crazy”.
Lex comes into the game, as he should with a “custom made ray technology” power which allows him to switch which of several powers he has based on what he needs. Other names for powers include “amplifying the Injustice Gang’s powers ” and “just to take them away if needed”. Both Mattel and WizKids did a great job here nailing the likeness of these two characters.
Aquaman here is the “King of the seven seas. As such his abilities include “crashing wave” and “I’ve told those idiots to stay out of my ocean”.
Hawkgirl jons the fight with her “Nth metal mace”, a “warrior’s ferocity” and “now that’s good flurb”.
Again, both Mattel and WizKids nailed the sculpts on these (yes, you can see the buckle on the Mattel Hawkgirl). Look at the detail on the head sculpts. Beautiful. And I love the dynamic poses on the HeroClix. I do wish, since Hawkgirl did not get a solo piece in the Batman Animated set and the duo with Hawkman was a super-rare and Hawkgirl is one of the founding members of the team, that she was a common so everyone could get her.
