Origin hits 1.3 million peak concurrent users

After SimCity launch, simultaneous user player figure for EA's online service reaches new milestone.

The record-setting (and embattled) SimCity launch this month helped set a new peak concurrent Origin user milestone, at 1.3 million "and rising," Electronic Arts announced today.

By comparison, competitor Valve's Steam service has 4.9 million concurrent players right now and a peak concurrent userbase of 5.7 million.

Of SimCity's 1.1 million total sales thus far, 44 percent (about 484,00) came through Origin, EA announced today.
