Black Ops II Uprising DLC confirmed

Second expansion for latest Call of Duty arriving April 16 on Xbox 360; includes four maps and new Zombies mode set on Alcatraz.

The rumors were right. Activision today confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops II will add the Uprising expansion April 16 on Xbox 360. The content, which follows January's Revolution expansion, will be available on other platforms later.

Uprising includes four multiplayer maps (Encore, Magma, Vertigo, and Studio), as well as a new Zombies offering called Mob of the Dead. This mode takes players to the iconic island prison of Alcatraz in San Francisco, California.

Mob of the Dead features four prohibition era mobsters played by Hollywood stars Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Chazz Palminteri (The Usual Suspects), Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos), and Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs).

The four are imprisoned at Alcatraz, though that is the least of their concerns. They plan to break out, but their plans are foiled by an onslaught of undead. Players will take on the zombies with guns, blunt instruments, and improvised weaponry throughout the island.

This is not the first time Activision has enlisted celebrities for a Call of Duty expansion. Action movie stars Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead), Danny Trejo (Machete), and George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead) lent their voices and likenesses for use in the original Black Ops' Escalation DLC.

A new game element in Mob of the Dead is the Purgatory feature, which sends players to the afterlife when they are downed by a zombie.

Uprising is free for those who own the $50 Black Ops II DLC Season Pass and will be available separately as a $15 download.
