Below is an unboxing video of the really amazing Hasbro Ghostbusters Plasma Series Spengler’s Neutrona Wand, which is easily one of the best collectibles I own:
The above video doesn’t do the replica justice. It’s extremely fun and truly recreates the experience one has in their head for how to handle and use a Ghostbusters Neutrona Wand. In the video my son is having a blast and I have to say it is really hard to share with him. So much so that I gave him my Spirit Halloween Proton Pack in order to placate him and now our Ghostbuster playtime is that much more realistic. As realistic as pretending to bust ghosts can be.
One thing to highlight is how on-model this replica is. Compared to the Spirit Halloween one it feels like I stole a prop off the set. I don’t own the Mattel Neutrino Wand (different name for some reason) but have seen comparison videos that highlight that for now the Hasbro Wand is the definitive version. Obviously this version is based on the as yet unreleased and extremely anticipated (due to several set-backs) “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, but the details and in my opinion “Real Ghostbusters” inspired Neutrona Wand works as the only one I would ever want or need.
The electronic components make the user experience just half of the presentation since visually it is stunning. But those battery powered elements elevate this replica to a point that you can’t help but play with it. My son loves Ghostbusters but was recently on more of a Indiana Jones kick lately so I had to get him back into busting ghosts as an excuse to use my Neutrona Wand. The other day I was pretending to be Peter Venkman teamed up with Superman, mostly because he wanted me to be Batman with a stifling mask on so I pivoted in order to avoid wearing the mask plus I would try to find any reason to flip the switches on the wand.
I’d like to thank Fun.com for providing this sample and making my childhood and my son’s current dreams come true. You can purchase the wand here and if you’re interested in adding to your cosplay the costume which I had previously reviewed can be purchased here.
