Andor Trailer Breakdown: 11 Star Wars Easter Eggs And References You Missed

The first full trailer for Andor, the prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has arrived. The series, starring Diego Luna as the rebel spy he portrayed in the film, will debut its first three episodes September 21 on Disney+ and, based on what we've seen so far, it's going to be one of the most action-packed Star Wars shows yet.

From laser fights to space battles, and plenty of espionage in between, thus far Andor is standing out from the rest of the pack when it comes to Star Wars shows. Perhaps that is what makes this franchise well-suited for TV. The various shows, though set in the same universe, can have different tones and different things to accomplish. This isn't a western about a Mandalorian protecting a tiny green baby or the iconic battle between a retired Jedi Knight and his former apprentice-turned-intergalactic overlord. This is a story about a spy who worms his way into the Empire in an attempt to dismantle it from the inside.

Of course, given that this is a Star Wars show, the trailer is also packed with Easter eggs, references, and nods to a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. In fact, it's entirely possible you missed certain things or didn't even notice they were referencing moments and locations from the larger Star Wars universe.

Thankfully, that's why we're here. We've broken it all down for you, so take a look below. Then sound off in the comments with whatever we missed!

1. Is this Fest?

We know Cassian was born on the planet Fest. What we don't know is much else about the planet. It was friendly to the rebellion and at one point was attacked by the Empire. Here, if this is Fest, it's a lush green planet.

2. Star Destroyer

If that is Fest, could the arrival of this Star Destroyer be the moment the Empire attacked the planet? It would be a rather appropriate moment in Cassian's backstory, inspiring him to become a spy.

3. Young Andor

Here we see what looks like a young Cassian, potentially looking upon the devastation caused by the Empire. In voiceover, he explains how easy it was to begin infiltrating Empire ships. Based on how the trailer portrays it, this was the beginning of his time as a spy against the Empire.

4. The Imperial Senate

Does this cavernous room look familiar? That's because it was, at one point, the home of the Galactic Senate as seen in the prequels. It was, of course, eventually replaced by the Imperial Senate after a long chain of events that included Jar Jar Binks convincing everyone to give Palpatine emergency control of the government. Oh, Jar Jar. Anyway, here it's clear that this is during the Imperial Senate rule.

5. Those white-shirted Sith officers

You'll see a few Sith officers in white jackets in the trailer, much like the one Director Krennic wore in Rogue One. This one, in particular, is worn by a Stormtrooper Major. That can be determined by the badge on his chest. Five blue squares denoted a Stormtrooper Major. Krennic's badge included six red squares and six blue squares.

6. Death troopers

This particular Stormtrooper variant is the Death Trooper and was an elite force in the Empire. They made their debut in Rogue One and have since appeared in episodes of The Mandalorian and Star Wars Rebels.

7. Scrapping an Empire ship

We can't be certain but it looks like they are salvaging a destroyed Empire ship for scrap. This wouldn't be the first time we saw the remnants of a downed Empire ship. Notably, there was a Millennium Falcon chase through one in The Force Awakens.

8. Saw Gerrera

Forest Whitaker is back as Saw Gerrera, a rebel leader who first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, voiced by Andrew Kishino. Whitaker played the character in Rogue One, then voiced Saw in episodes of Star Wars: Rebels and the Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Kishino returned to voice Saw in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

10. B2EMO

This new droid is named B2EMO. We don't know much about it yet, but it's very cute and the design debuted at San Diego Comic-Con.

11. TIE Fighter

Well, at least we know Cassian will be getting into some in-flight shenanigans if this fight with a TIE Fighter tells us anything. It makes us wonder if we'll know the pilot, though.
