Chicago music fans, this one's for you. After The Academy Is... announced the band would go their separate ways in October 2011, they promised fans via Facebook "though we may not be together, you can look forward to hearing new music from each of us." Frontman William Becket is delivering on that promise. (Also, a haircut!) Beckett recently released his four-song EP, Walk The Talk, and we've got an exclusive acoustic performance of the sing-along anthem "Oh, Love!"
Watch William Beckett's acoustic performance of "Oh, Love!" after the jump.
Channeling ATI's pop-punk energy with a little dash of All-American Rejects, Beckett belts his ode to his special lady seated alone with his guitar (also delivering yet another reminder that we need a new denim jacket): "Sleep with one eye open on a bed of broken glass/ In the middle of the ocean, yeah I'd do that/ Nothing lasts forever, she makes me want to try/ Yeah, I'd do that, oh, love!" There's a boyish likability to Beckett and a set of pipes to match -- Academy fans will dig this acoustic version of the track, and Beckett might just garner himself new solo admirers in the process. Way to go (again), Chi-town.
William Beckett's Walk The Talk is out now on YIKE Records. Check him out on tour this May.
