Ellie Goulding is surrounded by 20,000 lights in her "Burn" video.
The term "sophomore slump" does NOT apply to Ellie Goulding, or her second album, Halcyon. Released last October, we've already been treated to such Halcyon smashes as"Anything Could Happen," the Calvin Harris-assisted "I Need Your Love," and "You, My Everything" which, although technically not on Halycon, was recorded at the same session. Now Ellie's back with the video for her latest Halcyon single, the Ryan Tedder-produced "Burn." And no, sadly this isn't a sparkly synth version of Usher's epic R&B ballad, but rather, in classic Ellie form, it's the perfect blend of pop, synth, and multi-colored glitter. (You hear glitter when you listen to Ellie too, right? That's, like, a normal reaction?)

In the Mike Sharpe-directed clip, Ellie twirls and dances as the golden sun sets on an empty abandoned field (because who doesn't have 24/7 access to a gorgeous, sun-drench expanse?). Soon, throngs of people (Ellie's nearest and dearest, we guess?) start running towards her until the whole frame is populated with extra-attractive dancers twirling in rhythm. Eventually, night falls and tons of round lights ("Lights"??) fill the space. Ellie, who has somehow managed to do a quick outfit change, continues to swirl and whiz around the open field. Simply put, it's one of those perfectly curated outdoor parties you wish you could throw, but then you realize that a few Christmas lights messily scattered on your stoop just doesn't have the same effect.
