Boo! Scared you? Sorry but it’s after Labor Day so it’s officially Spooky Season, I can’t help but be a bit scary. There are those that start celebrating after July 4th but I stick to the Labor Day rule, that’s why you can’t wear white pants because they will get blood on them. Our friends over at HalloweenCostumes.com have some great exclusives this year for costumes and décor. I went ahead and chose some of my faves for your perusal.
Costumes –
Aragorn Lord of the Rings Costume for Men
Halloween is about living out fantasies and there’s no greater fantasy than Tolkien’s epic about Middle-Earth. This authentic costume, which I personally call a Strider costume, will scare orcs or even Lord Sauron himself.
Alien Premium Xenomorph Costume for Adults
Brief story here, my son used to watch these YouTube videos for pre-schoolers called Club Baboo and they did a special video listing Halloween monsters for every letter of the alphabet. X was for Xenomorph and now my 5 year old knows what a Xenomorph is. Anyway, this costume is sick and my son would probably love it.
Disney and Pixar Toy Story Slinky Dog Costume for Adults
What better way to tell your partner or pal that “You’ve got a friend in me.” by having them join you in a cumbersome costume that requires you to walk in sync. This is a very cute costume but not practical for your rager Halloween party, more of a Halloween parade vibe that will get you attention without having to go pee together at a stranger’s house.
Authentic Edward Scissorhands Costume for Men
I have very clear memories of watching this movie at a drive-in on a double bill with Home Alone. Strange combination, just like Tim Burton and Christmas because once combined it becomes both a Christmas thing and a Halloween thing. Even Batman Returns (a Christmas movie) gives off Halloween vibes. This is a great costume that might confuse younger generations but is genuinely creepy and accurate.
Disney and Pixar Russell Up Costume for infants
This one is extremely terrifying for dogs if you remember in the movie the talking dogs thought Russell was a tiny mailman. It definitely has merits beyond that as it will make your baby really cute, which hopefully it already is, this will just enhance the cuteness. I’m not saying your baby isn’t cute, I’m just saying it could be cuter.
Décor –
Ghostbusters Classic Ecto-1 Inflatable Halloween Decoration
Ghosts aren’t real but maybe on Halloween they become real, just a theory. If they were real setting up this bad boy in your lawn will definitely keep them away. I love seeing all the inflatable decorations in my neighborhood, they almost always creep out my dog. As a huge Ghostbusters fan this speaks to me and makes me wish I had a lawn to display this on. Halloween is Ghostbusters season and let’s not forget it.
Ghostbusters Small Slimer Halloween Decoration
Keeping the Ghostbusters train going I’m featuring this Slimer figure. Most décor items people consider are usually for outdoors but this piece would be good for both outdoor and indoor decoration. Living in an apartment all of our holiday decorations are indoor so I’m always on the look out for fun pieces that double as Halloween décor/geeky collectible.
Vampire’s Coffin Inflatable Light Up Halloween Decoration
One of my favorite rides in Disneyland is the Haunted Mansion and this inflatable reminded of it. One of my favorite moments is the corpse struggling to escape the coffin. These inflatables with motion add a nice kinetic energy to your Halloween display, also these are the inflatables that especially creep out my dog.
Creepy Twin Boys Animatronic Halloween Decoration
Creepy animatronic decorations like these are why my son can’t walk into Halloween stores. I love how much better and creepier home animatronics have become, they have come a long way from skeletons with light-up red eyes. HalloweenCostumes.com had many impressive animatronics but these two dudes creeped me out the most. Maybe because after years of having my young son wake me in the middle of the night I know how creepy little boys can be.
25 Foot Michael Myers Halloween Inflatable Decoration
I’ll take your Home Depot Skeleton and raise you a 25 foot Michael Myers which is a lot more impressive. Thanks to my son’s shark knowledge I can verify this inflatable is about half a Megalodon. There’s not much more I can say about this, it comes in smaller sizes but why bother? Go for the half a Megalodon option. This thing will be visible from blocks away so you will be marking your house for trick or treaters so splurge for some good candy, not raisins.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my picks, they were only some of my favorites. HalloweenCostumes.com has many more awesome options so definitely check them out for yourself. Have you already made your Halloween costume/décor purchases? Let me know down below!!
