No sleep till Katy Perry takes Brooklyn at the 2013 VMAs!

Not only will Katy Perry shake up the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards with the debut live performance of "Roar," but she's basically taking New York City itself by storm -- at least according to this VMA promo video released last night.

Taking a cue from Miley Cyrus, another public transit-invading VMA performer, Katy emerges from a sewer grate to lead an army of KatyCats (including an actual tiger) down the streets of downtown Manhattan to the tune of the Beastie Boys' "No Sleep Till Brooklyn." Katy then descends onto a Brooklyn-bound train, presumably to re-emerge at Barclays Center for the 2013 Video Music Awards, where once again our friends at Pepsi® will serve as an official presenting sponsor.

Is it just us, or is there a certain "je ne sais 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'" quality to Katy's entrance?? The whole "climbing out of an NYC sewer grate" thing, why, that's just got us going out of our '80s-nostalgic, pizza-nomming shells! Is that where's Katy's been all these months since the "California Dreams" Tour ended? Just chilling with the Turtles, eatin' some 'za??

Has the noted Emoji enthusiast been spending her time mastering Master Splinter's techniques to find her inner peace as the release date for Prism nears, and ready her nerves for the Video Music Awards performance?

REMEMBER, KATY: You're a firework.

So, this basically means that Katy Perry is the IRL alter-identity of the Turtles' best human pal, April, right?? Or is she the secret fifth Ninja Turtle who has so far evaded identification?!?!

We can honestly say we didn't see this coming.

This latest VMA  promo video answers, like, one question, but it raises way, way, WAY more! We guess we'll just have to wait and see what Katy brings to light when she pops outta the subway at the Barclays Center on Sunday, Aug. 25. Everyone, cross your fingers/fused claw-like turtle nubs!
