He's been Bruce Wayne, he's been Moses, and he's been John Connor. So what's next for The Dark Knight trilogy actor Christian Bale? Playing the iconic Frankenstein's Monster, which he'll portray in The Bride.
Warner Bros. Pictures revealed a first look at Bale as "Frank" on the studio's official account for X (formerly known as Twitter). There is also a still image of Men and Chernobyl actress Jessie Buckley as The Bride. The two will be under the direction of Maggie Gyllenhaal, so it's a reunion of sorts for her and Bale. The two previously appeared together in The Dark Knight.
Alongside Bale and Buckley, The Bride's cast will include Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, and Annette Bening, per Variety. The movie will reportedly be a twist on the classic love interest for Frankenstein, taking place in Chicago during the 1930s. The Bride of Frankenstein first appeared in Mary Shelley's early 19th-century book before hitting the silver screen in Universal's 1935 movie.
