A new day (of the devs) is here
The gaming industry is descending upon Los Angeles for The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley's annual celebration of the year that was in video games. That's not the only game in town, however, as there are plenty of other showcases to soak in before Thursday evening, with the latest Day Of The Devs livestream among them. Day Of The Devs: The Game Awards Edition provided reveals and updates for 19 different games through the hour-long presentation, The presentation featured familiar indie names like Panic (Untitled Goose Game) and TinyBuild (Hello Neighbor), as well as first-time devs like Alpha Channel and Clever Endeavor Games. Below are all 19 games from Day Of The Devs: The Game Awards Edition, as well as a link to their Steam page or other relevant site if available. Faraway
In Faraway, players will control a shooting star that's tasked with connecting other stars in order to make constellations in space. The larger the constellation you make in each procedurally generated stage, the more points you'll earn for that round. Ultimate Sheep Raccoon
Not just an incredible name, Ultimate Sheep Raccoon is a multiplayer racing game where all sorts of small animal ride bikes in hectic competition. Players can group together online and build the courses as they race, inevitably leading to some wacky course designs thanks to a selection of obstacles, traps, and power-ups that can be placed throughout each course. Sleight Of Hand
"Stealth-action deckbuilder" is not a phrase we ever thought we'd hear, but that's how RiffRaff Games describes Sleight Of Hand. Players will control a mysterious woman named Lady Luck as she tries to infiltrate a coven of witches in Steeple City, using a cursed deck of cards with an array of powers to do so. Demon Tides
The follow-up to 2021's Demon Turf, Demon Tides is a classic 3D platformer that spans a vast ocean. Players can collect over 50 talismans, each with their own unique buffs, and use them either to conquer trials scattered throughout the seas, or to create ghosts that friends can challenge in speedrunning contests. Kingmakers
Kingmakers seeks to answer a simple question: What if someone traveled back to a war-torn medieval time, but brought modern weapons along with them? Players will build kingdoms, arms their forces with guns, explosives, and more, and then wage war against waves of knights and other warriors in simulated battles. Recur
The latest game from Kaleidoscube and publisher AstraLogical, Recur is a 2D platformer where the hero can control time based on which direction he's moving. The world will feature puzzles centered around this mechanic, like one in the debut trailer where the hero runs left to reverse time, while dogs who were pursuing run backward, which allows the character to close a gate and prevent them from chasing him again. Blue Prince
Blue Prince is a puzzle game where players will explore a large mansion in search of the rumored room 46. Each run through the house is unique, as the player will designate what the next room will be and receive certain power-ups depending on the rooms they choose. Incolatus: Don't Stop, Girlypop!
Incolatus is what happens when a developer dips a '90s "boomer-shooter" into a kawaii wonderland. Movement is key as well; the faster you go, the more points you score and the more health you heal. Lok Digital
Lok Digital introduces a new and unique language, where each word is used to warp the world around it. Using these words, players will solve complex puzzles in an attempt to help the creatures of the world thrive. Neon Abyss 2
This sequel to 2020's Neon Abyss retains the roguelike adventure of the first game, but adds a new weapon system where players can choose between melee weapons for up-close combat or firearms for long-range attacks. Item synergies are also returning, but with an expanded number of items for even more concoctions. Crescent County
Crescent County is a "delivery life-sim" where players will control a witchy courier who makes deliveries on a souped-up witch's broom. Between deliveries, players can also race friends and upgrade their brooms for more challenging dropoffs. PBJ – The Musical
As the name suggests, PBJ: The Musical is a musical adventure entirely about peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches. PBJ tells the story of the meal's "tragic" story through music created by British celebrity Crumble Lady Lorraine Bowen. Curiosmos
In Curiosmos, players will design the entire solar system in what the Steam page describes as a "whimsical cosmic sandbox." From planets to moons, along with the gravity and atmosphere of each celestial body, nothing is off the table for Curiosmos's cosmic creators. Bionic Bay
Bionic Bay is a physics-based platformer starring a scientist who has developed teleportation technology. Using this new tech, the scientist must traverse hostile terrain, swapping himself with objects in order to protect him from whatever the world has in store. Inkonbini: One Store Many Stories
Inkonbini centers around an employee in a konbini--or Japanese convenience store--in the early 1990s. Players will stock shelves, work with customers, and learn their stories through choices in dialogue and, sometimes, in how you stock the shelves. Feltopia
Channeling games like Yoshi's Woolly World and Kirby's Epic Yard, Feltopia is a side-scrolling arcade shooter presented entirely in felt using stop-motion technology. Players will control Sky--a magical sheep herder protecting his flock from a dark presence taking over the land. Blippo+
We're not entirely sure what exactly is going on in Blippo+, but it seems to be centered around an old-timey basic television service with limited channels and presented entirely in black-and-white. Hyper Light Breaker
Arc Games, developer of Hyper Light Breaker--the long-awaited follow-up to Hyper Light Drifter--confirmed during the presentation that the open-world co-op survival game will be available in early access on January 14. Tankhead
The final announcement of the show was Tankhead, a post-apocalyptic open-world game where humans must transplant their consciousness into technology in order to survive. Players will travel the world as one of these humans in an attempt to pillage what remains from the society before.
