We have a special week planned for you all of you AFi readers next week… it’s a little later than I had originally planned, but better late than never! I wanted to post this scoop last month as part of our 11th anniversary, but there was so much other news and reveals that week and there was a LOT of information to compile for this I had to push it out. It’s here now and it’s a scoop SO big that we are going to make it a week long event here on AFi. Starting on Monday 5/30 we launch THUNDERWEEK! To whet your appetite here’s a special sneak peek:
It’s not uncommon that when a line ends we get to see or hear about a figure or two that was scheduled to be next in the line, maybe if we are REALLY lucky we even learn about a full wave “lost” wave. Next week here on ActionFigureInsider have the motherload of a scoop! We are going to reveal an entire YEAR of “lost” product that was never made!
This is the “Lost Year” of Bandai’s Thundercats line, the 2012 expansion to their 2011 Thundercats releaunch and all the product planned and even sculpted, but never came to be.
We will have a LOT more information about the history of the line and what happened to it next week, but I wanted to give you all a little teaser of what’s to come.
Today we are showing you the second wave of the 4″ deluxe action figures. Wave One of the deluxe figures, released in 2011, consisted of Lion-O, Panthro and Tygra. They all had an action feature that was part of the ThunderLynx Magnet Activation System.
Wave 2 would have followed a similar format with a deluxe Cheetara and the updated version of Driller.
DELUXE CHEETARA
Deluxe Cheetara would feature the same ThunderLynx technology as the first wave. She would come with a base that would activate her action feature of her spinning staff.
DELUXE DRILLER
You might recall the evil driller looking like this from wave 3 of the vintage JLN line.

In the new animated series he got a MUCH cooler, updated look:
That would have made for a really amazing update for a figure as well, and that’s what we would have seen in the second wave.
This figure would have had a spinning drill action as well as transforming from drill mode to Driller himself. He also would come with a stand so you could display him upright.
That’s just a little tease of what you will see here next week. We have a YEAR’S worth of product to reveal, including roleplay items, figures in multiple scales, figures from the 2011 animated series, vehicles, playsets and more figures based on the Classic Thundercats!
So check back with us here at AFi starting Monday as we kick off AFi’s THUNDERWEEK!!
