AFi’s “Ask Matty” Mattel Q&A Answers for July 1st, 2013

MattyAFiLogoI was traveling last week so I didn’t get it posted when it arrived partially because they only answered 2 of our 5 questions this round.

Twice a month the gang from Mattel are kind enough to answer five questions from AFi readers.  The Mattel marketing and PR team, have (mostly) replied with the answers to our latest round of questions that AFi readers have posted in our forums.   This round it appears that that the retail team was not available so as I mention several questions submitted are unanswered.  Just want to manage expectations.

Q1.  What happened to the toysrus dark knight trilogy line? At comic con they said that we would get new 4 inch figures to go along with the movie master 3 pack as well they said the quick tek figures would also continue. I saw one wave with the new joker but all the batman’s in that wave were the exact same ones from the dark knight rises. Will we see anymore dark knight trilogy figures (basic or quicktek) with perhaps a two face and some new batman’s with different repaints and not just reissued dark knight rises figures? Or is the line over and the joker was the only new figure we get?

A1.  Sorry but the DC retail team was unavailable this round to answer questions. We look forward to seeing everyone at SDCC!

Q2.  If you live outside of the US and wish to cancel your pre-order for Castle Greyskull, is there a way to cancel on the Matty site or do you have to phone/ email the request to cancel? It’s wrong for those that order online to have to pay for an international phone call to cancel an order if thats the only way to do so, especially when all other online stores/companies allow you to cancel online.

A2.  You need to call customer service if needing to cancel a preorder.

Q3.  You made a point of completing the Super Powers line up when DCUC was at retail, any chance you could do the same with the Total Justice line up in DCIE sub? We still need hook handed Aquaman, Kyle Raynor GL in his original costume, Zauriel, Connor Hawk Green Arrow (on the older teen buck), Tim Drake Robin in original costume (on the smaller Teen buck with new sculpting where required), Impulse (on smaller teen buck), 90′s Hawkman and Huntress in her 90′s costume.

A3.  We are fans of these costumes and we do have plans for some 90′s characters in 2014, (assuming we get enough sub holders at tier 1 to continue to the line) we don’t really have plans to hit Total Justice the way we deliberately tried to finish off Super Powers. In fact, there are still a few SP redecos and slight upgrades we are itching to do.

Q4.  Any intentions on capitalizing on the 25th anniversary of the Tim Burton Batman movie next year?

A4.  Sorry but the DC retail team was unavailable this round to answer questions. We look forward to seeing everyone at SDCC!

Q5.  Does Mattel have the license for Teen Titans Go? If so, when do they anticipate being able to show some product? Could the characters be included in the Super Friends lines?

A5.  Sorry but the DC retail team was unavailable this round to answer questions. We look forward to seeing everyone at SDCC! (EDITOR’S NOTE – We now know that Mattel is NOT going the figures/toys for ‘TEEN TITANS GO!’ Jazwares has announced they have the license and will be making product based on that show.)

There will not be a round on the 15th due to comic con.   Ask Matty will pick back up on August 11th.
