Twice a month the gang from Mattel are kind enough to answer five questions from AFi readers. The Mattel marketing and PR team, have replied with the answers to our latest round of questions that AFi readers have posted in our forums.
Mattel took a short break from ‘Ask Matty’ during July for Comic Con, but now they are back and ready to answer your questions.
Let’s get to the questions and the answers!
Q1. Is there any update on the DC Universe Action League line? There was no mention of additional figures at your Comic Con panels. Are we still getting that last wave with hang-glider Plastic Man and the Atom?
A1. At this time the Action League line is on hold waiting on retailer interest.
Q2. Can a Plastic Man neck extender be included with DC Sub Elongated Man?
A2. No, it is too late to make any changes to any of the figures revealed at SDCC.
Q3. The Collect and Connect figures from DC Universe Classics look awesome. Any plans for something like that for the new DC & Batman Unlimited line? Seems like a win-win. I’ll buy some figures I might otherwise pass on, but I get a sweet big figure out of it!
A3. No. To keep figures at retail in a market where production and labor costs continue to rise we needed to find ways to cost reduce them and we didn’t want to remove accessories or deco so the C&C element had to go.
Q4. It was mentioned at sdcc this year that there would be more ghostbuster items in 2013 relating to the movies. does this mean just prop replicas, or does it mean figures and accessories, too, just nothing for the retro real ghostbusters line and nothing from the game?
A4. At this time, the only 2013 GB items we have on the books are the prop replicas. There just has not been enough support for more 6″ figures at this time. We’d love to return to this scale in time, perhaps in a movie year!
Q5. The solicits for Batman and DC Unlimited indicate that each line is going to contain between 10 and 12 figures for the entire calendar year of 2013. Is this true? How often can we expect a new mix to be released, given how few figures are in each wave?
A5. Approx. every 4 months.
