AFi’s TOP 12 SANTA Figure Countdown – #10 @CollectDST NBC Select Santa Claus

As we roll along this countdown you KNEW we would have to hit Disney’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, which has become a holiday staple from October through December.Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is the gift that keeps on giving!

Our friends over at Diamond Select Toys are the current license holder for action figures and they have really been killing it with their NBC Select line of figures.  This is a line that has been running several years and it has given them the opportunity to do some “deeper cut” characters as well as some really cool environment/scene/set pieces from the movie if you collect the entire wave.

You knew they would have to do old Sandy Claus since his discovery and kidnapping is some of the main inciting action of the movie!  Here is the original solicitation listing for his wave:

Three new figure sets are coming your way for Halloween, including the Pumpkin King, Santa Claus, and Lock, Shock and Barrel, each sculpted in an approximately 7-inch scale with character-appropriate articulation. Plus, each figure set includes an exclusive figure or diorama piece – Lock, Shock and Barrel come with their walking bathtub, Santa Claus comes with an Elf and part of the town square diorama, and the Pumpkin King comes with part of the central fountain! Connect the Santa and Pumpkin King bases with other releases to make a larger diorama! Sculpted by Dave Cortes!

He’s a BIG figure when you see him in person, and he has multiple points of articulation as well as a removable hat.  He also comes with an elf figure.

This countdown is focusing on figures of Santa, but we also have to mention that there is another “Santa”-like figure in the line and that is Jack Skellington as Santa. As you will recall from the film when Santa was… incapacitated… Jack stepped in and tried to fill that role with some disastrous results!

So, if you are a Santa completest you might want to add the Jack as Santa figure to your Christmas list!
