All The Black Ops 6 Modes At Launch

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 officially releases on October 25, delivering 16 brand-new multiplayer maps, Treyarch's new omnimovement system, and a wide variety of game modes to play. There are standard core multiplayer modes, as well as smaller map playlists and 2v2 Gunfight. Here we highlight all the modes available in Black Ops 6.

In addition to game modes, it's worth noting that Black Ops 6 includes other helpful features to consider trying when you're not in a match. This includes Call of Duty's firing-range feature to test out different weapon builds, and the long-awaited return of Treyarch's theater mode to capture and rewatch your previous matches.

Black Ops 6 also includes the Training Course feature, which lets you practice and get more familiar with the game's advanced movement.

Team Deathmatch (6v6)

Call of Duty's staple Team Deathmatch game mode returns, which keeps things simple by just requiring you to eliminate enemy players to earn scores for your team.

Domination (6v6)

Domination includes three flags to capture, hold, and defend in order to earn points for your team. While mostly the same as previous years, it's worth noting Black Ops 6's Domination flags now include a small zone around the flag itself to identify where the scoring occurs.

Search and Destroy (6v6)

This popular non-respawn mode returns. In Search and Destroy, teams alternate between the tasks of either detonating or defusing a bomb. The Kill Cam in this mode will showcase the final kill of the game, instead of the Best Play featured in the respawn modes.

Kill Confirmed (6v6)

Eliminated players drop dog tags. The objective is to recover enemy dog tags to score for your team and collect tags from fallen teammates to deny your enemy points.

Free-For-All (8)

It's every player for themselves in Free-For-All. Simply eliminate enemies to earn points. The first player to reach the score limit will win the match.

Hardpoint (6v6)

Hardpoint is one of the most popular and competitive respawn modes in Call of Duty. Capture and hold the Hardpoint zones to earn points for your team. These zones will rotate around the map in a set order, but thankfully, this year Black Ops 6 has all the hardpoints numbered, which makes it easier to remember the order.

Gunfight (2v2)

Call of Duty's 2v2 mode returns. This pits two duos against each other in a series of short, fast-paced rounds on small maps. Both teams will have the exact same loadout, but the selection of guns and equipment will vary per round. There are no respawns here.

Headquarters (6v6)

Compete to capture a marked Headquarters location and then defend it for points. Respawns are disabled for the team that holds the Headquarters.

Kill Order (6v6)

Kill Order is a brand-new mode introduced in Black Ops 6. This works much like Team Deathmatch, but with a slight twist. Each team will have a player marked as the HVT (High-Value Target) Eliminate the enemy HVT while keeping your HVT alive. HVT kills earn a bonus score for your team.

Control (6v6)

Another competitive staple returns in Black Ops 6. In Control, teams take turns attacking and defending the zones. While this is a respawn mode, there are limited lives for both teams.

Face Off alternate modes (6v6)

Face Off is an alternative playlist option for 6v6 modes on the small Gunfight maps. This makes for chaotic action in very close quarters. Face Off includes Domination, Team Deathmatch, Kill Order, and Kill Confirmed.

Hardcore mode variant

Hardcore is Call of Duty's game mode that strips away most of the HUD, lowers your health, and enables friendly fire. Activision says Hardcore mode is scheduled for launch on certain playlists.

Hardcore Quick Play game modes will include:

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Kill Order
  • Domination
  • Hardpoint
  • Search and Destroy
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Free-For-All
  • Face Off Moshpit
