Another TV Show Becoming a Video Game this Fall

The previously announced video game based on TNT's Falling Skies TV show will launch across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC this fall, publisher Little Orbit announced today. The tactical strategy RPG is set in the universe of the TV show, just like the Defiance video game (based on the SyFy TV show), which recently became a free-to-play title.

In the Falling Skies video game, you're thrust into a "world gone wrong," and you're tasked with commanding a squad of survivors who form a resistance group to save the planet. The game promises "addictive" strategy-based gameplay, and characters from the show will appear in the game, Little Orbit said. Actors from the show are lending their voices to the game.

"Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies," Little Orbit president Matt Scott said. "We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player."

"Hundreds" of character skills and equipment upgrades are available to unlock, while Little Orbit adds that there are multiple ways to approach objectives, thus bolstering replayability. "Dynamic enemy AI" and map randomization should also help missions feel fresh, the developer says. You can see some images from the Falling Skies game in this post and an official website should go live "soon."

Created by DreamWorks Television, in association with TNT Productions and produced by Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies takes place in the aftermath of an alien attack. The show is written by Robert Rodat, who is best known for his work on Saving Private Ryan and The Patriot. Its fourth season begins June 22.
