Stand back: Rebecca Ferguson's about to become your new favorite female singer.
The name Rebecca Ferguson may not ring a bell to you just yet, but she's mad famous in England, so it's definitely time for us to catch up. Rebecca first made a name for herself in 2010 when she became the runner-up on the seventh season of the "The X Factor." She then signed a massive joint record deal with Syco (Simon Cowell's record label) and Epic Records, and then Columbia Records in the United States. Basically, this chick was pursued by every major label. And it's easy to hear why. Rebecca's debut album, Heaven, was cowritten entirely by Ferguson and has already been certified platinum in the U.K. and Ireland. No biggie at all, guys.

Heaven was released in the States earlier this year, and she's been bringing critics and fans to their knees with her smoky sound. Think the gritty pipes of Linda Perry and 4 Non Blondes, meets the passion of P!nk, meets a dash of Emeli Sandé. And don't even get us started on the echoes of Aretha Franklin. Her first single, "Nothing’s Real But Love," is an utterly arresting deep cut that centers around the universal sentiment that even when life craps on you, the only thing that really matters is love. In her own words, Rebecca reveals: “I spilled my soul out. A lot of it comes from writing about relationships I’ve been in, so I think everyone can probably relate to the lyrics – we’ve all been there.” Amen, sister! If I ever find a boyfriend to then break up with, your album will be my go-to! -- Jenna Rubenstein
