Supposed Ubisoft note to GameStop staff hints that stealth game is getting a host of postlaunch content, available to users through Season Pass.
Gamers may want to hold on to their copies of Assassin's Creed III after launch in late October, as it appears Ubisoft is planning a plethora of postlaunch downloadable content. A supposed Ubisoft note to GameStop employees (sent to Kotaku) reveals the publisher is planning episodic add-on content for the action game.
No further information about that content was revealed, but it appears there will be a lot of it, as the note goes on to hint that a Season Pass will be offered for Assassin's Creed III. Additional details are not available, but if the pass mirrors those available for Saints Row: The Third and Gears of War 3, customers will be able to pay up front for all DLC at a discounted rate.
Elsewhere in the brief, Ubisoft revealed it was in the process of forming a team dedicated to building add-on content for Assassin's Creed III. As of press time, Ubisoft had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
Set during the American Revolution, Assassin's Creed III features a new protagonist with a mixed Native American-English heritage. Named Ratohnhake:ton but going by Connor, the hero of Assassin's Creed III will inject himself into the ongoing struggle between the Templars and the Assassins. The game is being built by Ubisoft Montreal and six collaborating studios on a new engine called Ubisoft-AnvilNext.
Assassin's Creed III will enjoy Ubisoft's biggest marketing campaign in company history, the firm's vice president of sales and marketing, Tony Key, said in March. Additionally, the executive called Assassin's Creed III the largest launch in the publisher's history and noted that by the time it arrives on October 30, the game will have been in development for three years.
