Battlefield 4 will have vehicle testing range

DICE confirms test range in upcoming shooter will allow players to trying out vehicles like helicopters before entering the game proper.

Battlefield 4 will include a “test range” that will allow players to try out vehicles like helicopters before getting into the game proper.

“We’ve definitely heard that people are afraid of getting in there [and using vehicles like helicopters] and that’s not our intent,” DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson told IGN. “So what we’ve done is, we’ve added a test range, which allows you to try out all the hardware ahead of time so that if you want to learn to fly a helicopter you can get in there and you can find the settings that work best for you.”

“And then start doing some stunt flights just to feel safe before you go out and get the responsibility of a bunch of other people sitting in your helicopter,” he added. “So I truly hope that this will help people feel more safe about trying out the whole battlefield.”

Gustavsson also confirmed that Battlefield 4 will not support bots and that there are currently no plans for a Dinosaur mode. He also addressed Battlefield 4 remote play for the PlayStation Vita, saying DICE is “looking into” this and working to see if it can guarantee the feature.

Asked how the PS Vita game, through remote play, is shaping up, Gustavsson said, “It’s getting there. As always, when you’re working on a game you’re still taking one day at a time, but it seems like we’re getting there.”

Battlefield 4 launches for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 29. The game will be available as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 15 and November 22, respectively.
