Update: Electronic Arts has published the official teaser trailer for Battlefield Hardline, confirming the October 21 release date. The PlayStation logo that was in the leaked video has been removed. Original story below. A newly leaked trailer reveals Battlefield Hardline's release date to be October 21. Presumably the official trailer for this year's Battlefield title, the video shows a sizzle reel of explosions and violence. This is followed by a title screen that directs you to watch a five-minute multiplayer demo on Battlefield's official site, which is not yet available. The release date then flashes on-screen. This makes three Battlefields in a row to be released in late October, which--if patterns repeat--put them a week or two ahead of Call of Duty's annual November release. Hardline was confirmed by developer Visceral Games last week, and shortly thereafter a leaked video revealed the context of the game's story. It centers around a detective named Nick Mendoza who pursues his rogue ex-partners across the U.S. Multiplayer details were also revealed. Four new modes--Heist, Rescue, Hotwire, and Bloodmoney--make up Hardline's cops-and-robbers multiplayer. Also noteworthy is the inclusion of a PlayStation logo at the end of the video, indicating that this trailer will probably be shown at Sony's E3 press conference or published on the PlayStation website. Battlefield 4 was shown off at Microsoft's E3 conference last year, and its DLC has timed exclusivity on Microsoft platforms. Electronic Arts is scheduled to show off more of the game at this year's E3, so keep an eye on GameSpot's E3 2014 coverage all of next week to see the latest news, videos, and impressions of Battlefield Hardline.
