CCP Games announced this week during its Fanfest event that actress Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will star in its upcoming virtual reality game, EVE: Valkyrie. Sackhoff will play the role of Rán, who is not a player character, but rather the voice in your ear as you play. As the leader of the Valkyrie fighter pilots, she'll send you on missions and such.
"The first time I played EVE: Valkyrie I immediately knew I had to be a part of it," Sackhoff said in a statement. "Even with the roles I have played, it is the closest I have ever felt to being a real spaceship pilot. It is a truly transformative video game experience."
EVE: Valkyrie is a multiplayer spaceship dogfighting shooter set in the EVE universe. It is currently in development for the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift headset and Sony's PlayStation 4 virtual reality technology, Project Morpheus.
Also during CCP's Fanfest this week, the developer announced that EVE: Valkyrie has been redesigned to run in Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4. Previously, the game ran in the Unity game engine.
