Four missions surrounding infamous American traitor coming exclusively to Sony platform; no word on release for Xbox 360, PC, Wii U.
Infamous Revolutionary War American general and exposed traitor Benedict Arnold will be resurrected in Assassin's Creed III, but only for PlayStation 3 gamers. Sony announced today that the PS3-exclusive missions for Ubisoft's new stealth-action game involve Arnold's secret plot to betray West Point.
The four-mission story sees General Washington request the help of Assassin's Creed III hero Connor to expose Arnold as a traitor. During the course of the narrative, players will be tasked with taking down Loyalist spies and going behind enemy lines. The missions will culminate with the historical assault on West Point.
Unlike the previously announced Tyranny of King George downloadable content for Assassin's Creed III, the Benedict Arnold missions will be more in line with actual history.
Scriptwriter Matt Turner told the PlayStation Blog that characters in the missions will deliver lines that were actually spoken by major players in the events at West Point. And though some of the gameplay may deviate from what happened during the actual event in the late 1700s, the rest is as authentic as possible, Turner said.
"Who was there, what they did, and what happened to them is as precise as the history books would allow," he said.
The Benedict Arnold missions have been announced only for the PS3. It is not clear if Xbox 360, PC, or Wii U gamers will ever have a chance to play the content. A Ubisoft representative was not immediately available for comment.
