Black Mirror Creator Teases USS Callister Sequel

In 2017, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker opened up the fourth season with USS Callister, an episode that featured Jesse Plemons as Robert Daly, a man who trapped digital clones of his colleagues in his own classic Star Trek-inspired world. It was a living hell for the clones until Nanette Cole (Cristin Milioti) led a revolt against Daly. The episode was so well-received that Brooker has been talking about a sequel since 2018. Now, the sequel has apparently already begun production.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Brooker explained why it took so long for the sequel to come together before letting it slip that the cast has been reunited.

"It was something we were looking at for quite a long time," said Brooker. "There were various iterations it went through, various version we wanted to do and were discussing on and off for several years. But there are a lot of schedules to sort out, and then the pandemic got in the way. It was something that looked like it wasn't going to happen, and so I was delighted when it did. So, it's been a minute. But even writing the characters is a luxury I don't often get. I've never had it before on Black Mirror, to have a character that survives beyond one episode! So that's been a lot of fun, and then seeing them all on set has been fantastic."
