The movie adaptation of the video game Borderlands releases in theaters this Friday, August 9, and director Eli Roth says it's the kind of film where you shouldn't think too much and just sit back and take in the spectacle. Speaking to Deadline, Roth said, "I've always wanted to do something like this that was just like big and fun and crazy where you just shut off your brain, grab a bucket of popcorn, and laugh your ass off." He added that making the Borderlands film allowed him to live out his dream of making a "visual" and "spectacular" movie like Fifth Element, Escape from New York, or Barbarella.
