The week caps off with Bruno Mars serving double duty as host and musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" (he's also on VH1's "Big Morning Buzz Live" on Tuesday).
NEW ALBUM RELEASES
+ Brandy, Two Eleven: Following a four-year hiatus (which she spent doing some rapping as Bran'Nu and starring on the football-drama "The Game"), Brandy returns to her R&B roots with Two Eleven. Check out "Slower" and the video for "Put It Down," both of which include Brandy's singing collabos with Chris Brown. "Let Me Go" pulsates with a dance vibe and a killer sample from Lykke Li's "Tonight." Also check out the R&B-tipped "Wildest Dreams," the soulful ballad "No Such Thing As Too Late," and the Frank Ocean-penned "Scared of Beautiful."
+ Adam Lambert, Trespassing Remix EP: Four of Adam's songs from his chart-topping sophomore album get the remix treatment on this EP. The eight tracks comprise four remixes of "Trespassing" (cowritten by Pharrell Williams, "Trespassing" gets a Pharrell Radio Mix and also a Benny Benassi Remix), two takes of "Never Close Our Eyes," and a remix each of "Better Than I Know Myself" and "Pop That Lock." The set is available at digital retailers on Oct. 16, with a physical release planned for the future.
Check out more new album releases, upcoming TV appearances, and performances after the jump.
+ Conor Maynard, Contrast: The young British pop star that's been nicknamed the "British Justin Bieber" finally sees his debut album get a Stateside release. The MTV PUSH alum may have heavyweight guests from the likes of Pharrell Williams, Ne-Yo, and Rita Ora, but he certainly shines on his own on tracks like "Vegas Girl" and "Can't Say No." The album also features a song cowritten by Frank Ocean ("Pictures").
+ Christina Perri, Very Merry Perri Christmas: The singer releases this six-song EP for the holiday season, but it's more than just classic standard fare. Her take on the John Lennon/Yoko Ono-Plastic Ono Band's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" includes singing collabos with Michelle Branch and Boys Like Girls' Martin Johnson among others. Also check out her original piano ballad "Something About December," which she and her brother cowrote.
+ Icona Pop, Iconic EP: The Swedish electro-pop duo's new EP includes their awesomely addictive and Charli XCX-penned "I Love It," one of the best kiss-off-to-an-ex songs around. Also check out "We Got The World." Watch the gals chat with MTV Buzzworthy where they talk about "Snooki & JWoww," plus they dished about Iconic, love, their move to New York, and fashion with MTV Hive.
+ Benjamin Gibbard, Former Lives: Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard releases his debut solo album. A culmination of songs he's penned over the last eight years, the 12-song set includes "Bigger Than Love," where he duets with Aimee Mann. Check out his live performances of "Teardrop Windows," a song about the Smith Tower in Seattle, and "Oh, Woe" with The Roots backing him from "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
+ Jason Aldean, Night Train: Having duetted with Kelly Clarkson on "Don't You Wanna Stay," Jason Aldean may be a country star, but he also bucks traditional conventions turning to other genres (like on former tune "Dirt Road Anthem" and Night Train tune "1994," which both merge country and hip-hop) to add to his country base. The 15-song album includes "The Only Way I Know" with Luke Bryan and Eric Church.
+ Scotty McCreery, Christmas with Scotty McCreery: The "American Idol" Season 10 winner and country singer takes on classics such as "Let It Snow," "Jingle Bells" and "Winter Wonderland" in this 11-song holiday album. Also included are new songs "Christmas in Heaven" and "Christmas Comin' Round Again."
+ ZZ Ward, Til The Casket Drops: An artist on the rise, she has a wonderful knack for marrying her awesome bluesy singing with hip-hop styled beats. Check out some behind-the-scenes studio footage RapFix filmed as she worked on her full-length debut, Til The Casket Drops, with A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Other collaborators on the album include Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs, and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder.
+ Creative Adult, Dead Air EP: The four member Bay-area punk band release their debut EP on their own label, Broke Hater (talk about DIY). Songs include the churning, adrenaline fueled "Dead Air," "Tabloid," "You," and "Forbidden Fruit."
