Beloved animated film from LAIKA celebrates milestone with Chucks for all ages.
Accompanying apparel offering includes hoodie and t-shirt.
[Hillsboro, OR; November 18, 2024] — Converse and LAIKA are inviting fans to step back into the “Other World” and celebrate the 15th anniversary of the beloved stop-motion fantasy film, Coraline. The Converse x LAIKA partnership, back with its second collaborative collection, is introducing footwear for all ages as well as apparel inspired by the film’s imaginative and haunting world.
Coraline, a critically acclaimed film about a young girl who discovers a secret world behind a hidden door, has captivated audiences since its 2009 debut. Its exploration of themes such as individuality and self-discovery make the character and the film a natural fit for collaboration with the Chuck Taylor All Star—a beloved shoe long heralded as a cultural emblem of self-expression.
This limited-edition collection brings the film’s moments, characters, and motifs to life by applying them to the Chuck Taylor All Star’s canvas. Each of the five Chuck models included within the capsule are crafted to capture the essence and unique elements of the film, including:
- The “Other World” Chuck Taylor All Star, featuring a vibrant graphic of the film’s fantastical garden, rainbow foil accents, and a Seeing Stone-inspired eyelet.
- The “Other Wybie” Chuck Taylor All Star, inspired by Coraline’s friend Wybie, includes a black-coated canvas upper, reflective accents, textured laces, and a button eye graphic patch.
- The Coraline Chuck Taylor All Star EVA Lift, designed for kids, features an all-over star print inspired by Coraline’s sweater and a dragonfly patch.
- The Coraline Chuck Taylor All Star 1V, also designed for kids, features an all-over star print, a button-moon ankle patch, and a Coraline doll graphic.
- The Coraline Chuck Taylor All Star 2V Infant features an all-over star print, cat and mice graphics, and cobranded details.
Two apparel items, including a Coraline t-shirt and hoodie, round out the collection. The t-shirt features a puff print doll graphic on the front and Coraline back graphic, while the hoodie incorporates embroidered buttonholes, a Beldam hand in rubber ink, and a sleeve graphic.
LAIKA’s theatrical re-release of Coraline in remastered 3-D this past summer set box office records in multiple territories around the world. This collaborative collection with Converse provides another opportunity to celebrate the film’s 15th anniversary, as it continues to resonate with fans globally.
