First Trading Cards Based on Hit Adult Swim Series Feature Seven Chase Sets, Hand-Drawn Sketch Cards, and Autograph Cards Signed by Series Cast
Lake Forest, CA – June 22, 2018 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and physical and digital collectibles, and Cartoon Network Enterprises today announced the June 27 release of Rick and Morty Trading Cards Season 1.
The first trading cards for the hit Adult Swim TV series Rick and Morty feature a 45-card Base Set with images from Season 1 episodes, seven Chase Sets, and randomly inserted Sketch and Autograph Cards. Signers include nine members of the series voice cast.
“There’s never been a show quite like Rick and Morty, so we wanted these trading cards to reflect what makes it a pop culture phenomenon,” said George Nadeau, Manager of Product Development at Cryptozoic. “We put together an incredible list of artists to create hand-drawn Sketch Cards that capture the off-the-wall nature of the characters. The seven Chase Sets are some of our most creative and diverse ever, including sets that focus on unforgettable episodes ‘Anatomy Park’ and ‘Rixty Minutes’ and sets that are a bit more interactive, offering Standees, Stickers, and more.”
The hand-drawn Sketch Cards showcase a variety of interpretations of the characters from some of today’s hottest artists.
Signers for the Autograph Cards include fan-favorite voice actors Justin Roiland (Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith, Mr. Meeseeks), Chris Parnell (Jerry Smith), Jess Harnell (Scary Terry), Kari Wahlgren (Jessica, Cynthia), Maurice LaMarche (Stu), and Rob Paulsen (Snuffles).
The Chase Sets include “Characters,” providing images and descriptions of key characters; “Rixty Minutes,” showcasing some of the outlandish TV channels from the episode of the same name; and “Anatomy Park,” highlighting the theme park inside a human body in the memorable episode.
In addition, four of the Chase Sets offer fans cards that are more interactive: Temporary Tattoos, Scratch and Sniff, Standees, and Stickers.
Rick and Morty Trading Cards Season 1 captures all the zany moments from the first season as brilliant scientist Rick Sanchez creates amazing gadgets and goes on adventures across the universe with his grandson Morty, often endangering all of reality in the process. Despite his genius, Rick frequently clashes with members of his own family—Morty, daughter Beth, son-in-law Jerry, and granddaughter Summer—and involves them in his out-of-this-world escapades.
Rick and Morty Trading Cards Season 1 will be available at retailers nationwide on June 27.Product Details:
