@Cryptozoic and Warner Bros. Consumer Products Announce Release of DC Bombshells Trading Cards
Set Is Based on DC’s Popular Retro-Style Statues and Comics and Includes a Rare “Golden Goddess” DC Lil Bombshells Vinyl Figure in Each Hobby Box
Lake Forest, CA – September 20, 2017 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and collectibles, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, today announced the September 27 release of DC Bombshells Trading Cards. The set is based on the popular DC Bombshells statues and comic books that are inspired by 1940s pinup art and focus on DC’s powerful female characters. The 63-card Base Set and four Chase Sets feature art from the covers of the DC Bombshells comic book series—including drawings by Ant Lucia—and from DC Bombshells variant covers of other comic books, as well as the illustrations used to create Cryptozoic’s DC Bombshells and Lil Bombshells figures. Each hobby box contains one rare “Golden Goddess” variant of a DC Lil Bombshells 2.75-inch vinyl figure: Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, or Supergirl.

“There’s something refreshing and irresistible about the retro style of DC Bombshells,” said George Nadeau, Manager of Product Development at Cryptozoic Entertainment. “These new trading cards allow fans to collect the beautiful art from the comic books and the amazing drawings our artists created for our DC Bombshells collectibles. If that weren’t enough, they can also get ‘Golden Goddess’ DC Lil Bombshells figures, which are sure to turn some heads with their eye-catching gold-and-white design.”

The first Chase Set is “Characters,” focusing on individual DC Bombshells characters. The other three Chase Sets feature images created for Cryptozoic’s collectibles lines: “Sketches,” “Lil Bombshells,” and “Bombshells – Men,” which depict male DC characters drawn in the Bombshells style. In addition to the “Golden Goddess” DC Lil Bombshells figure placed in each hobby box, there will be several randomly inserted cards in packs: Sketch Cards, Variants, Printing Plates, and “CZ STR PWR,” which are rare, high-quality, thicker cards printed using Cast and Cure technology.

DC Bombshells originated as a series of statues inspired by 1940s pinup art and dieselpunk and features some of DC’s greatest female characters. Based on the designs of Ant Lucia, the statues debuted in 2013 with Wonder Woman and quickly became a runaway success with collectors, as well as an inspiration to cosplayers. The DC Bombshells comic book series followed in 2015, reimagining DC’s history by placing its heroines and iconic villainesses at the center of World War II, in the process drawing attention to the changing roles of women in that era.

DC Bombshells Trading Cards will be available September 27 at retailers nationwide.
