Mods in Cyberpunk 2077 were automatically disabled prior to the release of the expansion Phantom Liberty to prevent compatibility issues. CD Projekt Red confirmed the update on Twitter saying, "This is to prevent issues with the game that are caused by mods before they receive their update from the modding community. We want to make sure you have the best experience when playing the game." However, when reached out to for comment CD Projekt Red confirmed that you can re-enable mods. You'll have to do that at your own peril though, as Phantom Liberty changes the game enough that even lightweight mods could cause performance issues or bugs. Most of the popular mods should receive updates for Phantom Liberty, as well as the game's extensive 2.0 update.
