It’s that time of every other year again, time for D23 Expo, the ultimate fan convention that encompasses many different fandoms. The more companies that Disney buys the more fandoms will be represented. For the first time since 2015 I was all prepped and ready to attend, then life decided to change my plans. After avoiding it for over 2 years I finally got Covid (still have it actually) and while I’m saddened to ruin my streak (even sadder to be missing D23) it feels good that I’m no longer left out of the Corona-Club. In order to cheer me up, my friends over at HalloweenCostumes.com have sent over an exclusive discount code for AFI readers which you can find here. Obviously you can use it to buy any type of costume you desire but in order to commemorate D23 weekend here are a few Disney themed costumes that stood out to me:
Billy Butcherson Costume for Adults from Disney’s Hocus Pocus
Based on the cult holiday classic, this costume is not only nostalgic but topical since the character is confirmed to appear in the upcoming sequel on Disney+.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid Ariel Blue Costume Dress for Women
What Disney themed costume list would be complete without a princess? This isn’t a traditional Disney Princess costume but it is my favorite look from the movie and she is my favorite princess so I had to include her.
Scarlet Singer Women’s Costume
This is another one of my favorite of their exclusive costumes, now it doesn’t seem like it can legally be called what it’s supposed to be but we all get it. It obviously pairs well with the equally vaguely named Men’s Cartoon Rabbit Costume.
Disney Dr. Facilier Costume for Adults
The Princess and the Frog is one of the most underrated Disney films and one of the last hand-drawn animated films the studio put out. I’m looking forward to any updates that the Parks Panel at D23 will announce for the new ride at Disneyland that’s replacing Splash Mountain based on the film.
Disney Coco Adult Men’s Hector Deluxe Costume
Perfect not just for Halloween but also Dia De Muertos is this costume from one of Pixar’s greatest movies, definitely one of their best in recent years. As a Mexican it warms my heart that we have iconic Disney characters we can buy costumes of.
Disney Emperor’s New Groove Yzma Women’s Costume
I definitely seem to be drawn to more cult films in the Disney canon but I have fond memories of going with my family to watch Emperor’s New Groove in the theater. This costume looks great and has a great companion piece since you can’t have Yzma without Kronk.
Exclusive Boba Fett Costume for Adults
For those of you wondering what costume I want, it’s this Boba Fett costume. My son recently announced he’s going to be Han Solo in Carbonite (that’s a nice little late night project for me) so I decided I was going to be the bounty hunter that brought him in. While it’s not era accurate for my son’s costume, it will be current. You can also purchase the recent Star Wars The Black Series Boba Fett (Re-Armored) Premium Electronic Prop Helmet Replica to complete the outfit. Cue the awesome theme song!
Star Wars The Vintage Collection Boba Fett’s Slave I Vehicle
I can’t make a list without including a toy, which HalloweenCostumes.com has several of on their sister site Fun.com. They have many options and rare finds but I’m including the above to not only keep with the Disney/Boba Fett theme but because this is a hard item to find and they still have it available, if only in limited quantities. Those are all my Disney themed picks but obviously HalloweenCostumes.com has a wide variety of options, including my personal favorite Ghostbusters. They have this great costume:
Which I have previously reviewed here. They also carry a Ghostbusters 2 themed costume:
Hope this gets you primed for D23 weekend and Halloween, which according to the decorations I’ve already seen it seems Spooky Season has already begun.
