Limited Edition Variant of Figure from DC Comics Bombshells Line Features Holiday Colors
Lake Forest, CA – December 7, 2016 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and collectibles, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, announced today’s release of the Holiday Edition Harley Quinn vinyl figure as part of their DC Comics Bombshells line of collectibles.
The figure is a variant of the Series 1 Harley Quinn DC Comics Bombshells figure, with a festive paint design to highlight the holiday season. It stands approximately 7 inches tall and comes packaged in a display-worthy window box. Designed by Pedro Astudillo and sculpted by Anders Ehrenborg, the limited number produced—2,016 figures—will commemorate the end of 2016. The Holiday Edition Harley Quinn vinyl figure is exclusive to Diamond Comic Distributors and can be ordered through Previews, Diamond’s monthly catalog showing upcoming products available at comic book specialty shops.
DC Comics Bombshells originated as a series of statues inspired by 1940s pinup art and dieselpunk and features some of DC Comics’s greatest female characters. Based on the designs of Ant Lucia, the statues debuted in 2013 with Wonder Woman and quickly became a runaway success with collectors, as well as an inspiration to cosplayers. The DC Comics Bombshells comic book series followed in 2015, reimagining DC’s history by placing its heroines and notorious villainesses at the center of World War II, in the process drawing attention to the changing roles of women in that era.
Harley Quinn was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, first appearing in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992 as the Joker’s playful and humorous love interest. The character’s popularity led to appearances in comic books and other media, culminating in a starring role in this year’s hit Suicide Squad movie, in which Harley was played by actress Margot Robbie.
