Capcom nails down release date for Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of Ninja Theory-developed entry in action franchise; PC version to follow later in 2013.
Capcom's Devil May Cry revamp DMC won't make it to store shelves this year, but it isn't missing by much. Capcom today announced that the next installment in the action franchise will launch January 15 in North America and Europe. That date covers the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, with a PC edition "well under way" and set to follow later in 2013.
DMC will follow a redesigned version of Dante, envisioning a younger version of the gun-toting, sword-wielding demon slayer in the modern world. Developer Ninja Theory has said it wants to give the series a fresh start, with a scythe and axe added to his standard arsenal.
Ninja Theory has built a name for itself with action games this generation. The Cambridge-based studio created the PS3-exclusive Heavenly Sword for Sony and then followed it up with Namco Bandai's Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. In so doing, the studio abandoned its previous name, Just Add Monsters, under which it developed Kung Fu Chaos for the original Xbox.
