Dying Light, the upcoming open-world zombie game from Dead Island studio Techland, will offer "50+ hours of gameplay," the developer said this week as part of the release of brand-new trailer (above) highlighting the game's Be the Zombie mode. The Be the Zombie mode, which players can unlock by preordering the game, allows them to control an extra-deadly zombie called the Night Hunter. As the Night Hunter, you can invade other players' online games and kill them with a unique set of moves and abilities. The Be the Zombie mode is available across all platforms: Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. Following a delay out of 2014, Dying Light launches January 27 in North America, January 27 in Australia and New Zealand, and January 30 in Europe and Asia. "The game is absolutely huge as it is, but to provide the ultimate zombie survival experience, we added an extra element of unpredictability to our nighttime gameplay," Dying Light producer Tymon Smektala said in a statement. "Online players can face the threat of a possible invasion of their game by the Night Hunter, an extremely powerful, human-controlled zombie mutation. These invasions are an inherent part of Dying Light, available on all platforms for all online players from day one." Got a news tip or want to contact us directly? Email news@gamespot.com
