Bettie Page was an American model who gained significant notoriety for her pin-up work in the 1950s. Often referred to as the “Queen of Pin-ups”, her signature jet-black hair, fringe bangs and blue eyes influenced generations of artists and models to this day.  The native of Nashville, Tennessee made her way to New York City to become an actress, finding work as a model throughout the 50s.  She became the quintessential pin-up model and was one of the earliest Playmates of the Month for Playboy Magazine, appearing as Miss January 1955.  Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told the Associated Press in 2008: “I think she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society.”

Olivia de Berardinis said in Bettie Page Reveals All, “There was nothing like Betty.”

“She was the original model and she was an inspiration.” Supermodel Shalom Harlow told E, “She was beautiful, but she had a sense of humor with everything she did. She created her own sense of style.”

“It’s cool to see my drawing in this great statue of Bettie Page!” Dodson said of the project, “I loved being involved with reintroduction of Bettie into the comics and I hope this combination of comic and statue will really resonate with fans.”

Fan-favorite comic book artist Terry Dodson is one of the most popular and respected artists in comics today! His popularity gained momentum when at DC he provided covers and interiors for celebrated runs on Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman, continuing through to the Marvel Knights Spider-Man with Mark Millar and up to his most recent work at Marvel with the X-Men and with the Star Wars comic series with Mark Waid featuring Princess Leia.

Now, Dynamite proudly brings Dodson’s vision of the glamorous Bettie Page to three dimensions with this hand-painted, limited edition resin statue line! Brought to full-color life by Rvckvs International. Further options available include the noir “black and white” edition, and the beautiful “bronze” edition.

“Our Bettie Page series had a fun new take on the character,” states Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci.  “Bettie was a trailblazer, and a trendsetter, who inspired generations of women (and will no doubt inspire generations to come).  The cover that Terry Dodson turned in paid tribute to a beloved scene known to fans of The Rocketeer comic series from the late, great Dave Stevens, who became close friends with Page, the inspiration for “Betty”, the actress/model girlfriend of his hero.  In life imitating art and then imitating life again, the Betty photo shoot scene was a play on Bettie Page’s real-life photo shoots, and Terry’s cover was an homage to Dave’s.  We think Terry’s cover stands out as one of the best pieces of Bettie Page today, and when you see it, you will see the passion Terry brought to his cover.  Turning his cover into this incredible statue, and Terry’s happiness with the sculpt, is extremely gratifying and we cannot wait to bring this limited-edition collectible to fans!”
