EA to donate 80 percent of new SimCity DLC to Red Cross

New Red Cross DLC for SimCity provides in-game Red Cross relief tents and vehicles.

EA has pledged to give at least 80 percent of the proceeds it makes off SimCity‘s new Red Cross DLC to the humanitarian group, the company has said.

The DLC, which costs $9.99/£7.99, provides in-game Red Cross relief tents that pop-up when a city finds itself hit by tornado, meteor, or earthquake. These tents will provide aid to citizens while the natural disaster is occurring. Afterwards the tents will disappear, each releasing 10 healthy Sims back into the city.

The Red Cross relief tents work in tandem with ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars, EA adds.

Also included in the pack are Red Cross vehicles which roam around a city to promote disaster relief.

The DLC will be available for one year, starting yesterday. EA says it will donate a minimum of $100,000 to the Red Cross.

SimCity, which has sold over two million copies, was released for Mac at the end of August.
