The epic 11-year Justice League Unlimited line wraps up with three of the most fan-demanded figures ever. This terrible trio includes the first Toyman figure, and never has a sweater vest been so incredibly creepy. The first ever Firefly figure in the Mattel JLU line also lands in this 3-pack, and you don’t need a Materioptikon to know that the final figure rounding out this threesome is the evil Dr. Destiny. Complete your collection with these three villains, all sculpted in distinctive JLU style!
JLU is dead. All hail JLU. This is the final 3-pack for Mattel’s long running ‘Justice League Unlimited’ line. The last 3 figures. As you know I have been heavily invested in this line from the very beginning when Jason and I actually debuted the original sculpts first, had the first pictures of the original figures in hand and was able to break the news of characters and figures many times over the years. I love JLU. And I’m sad to see it go. To help us all cope with the loss of one of our favorite lines we’re going to be celebrating the history of the line for the next few weeks with some exclusive interviews with the people who have worked on the line and some flashback of some of my old pictures and articles on the line.
For the final set we get the Dr. Destiny, Toyman and Firefly 3-pack. This limited edition set has three all new characters, which is rare of these 3-paacks but helps JLU go out with a bang… an evil bang! All three figures in this pack are new with two characters the first time in the JLU style on one character getting his first action figure ever. Originally this set was going to be Toyman, Superman and Aquaman, but through a change in management and a twist of fate the JLU team was able to get the last two figures Dr. Destiny and Firefly into the line.
FIREFLY- Firefly uses the skinny body and arms and legs we first saw on the Weather Wizard figure. He has a new head and new arms as well as a new backpack piece with straps and wings.
DR. DESTINY – The not so good Doctor uses the hero buck with a new head an Hourman’s cape and hood. (for those of you not familiar with Dr. Destiny check out Justice League 72-75 “Destiny’s Hand” story arc and the first arc of Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman”)
TOYMAN – ToyMan is a 100% new sculpt. There was some initial debate as to whether to include the crack on the head as they were designing him. The original thinking was include it now and remove it for the eventual re-release. However as sales evaporated it became clear this would be the only release of this figure.
There are no accessories for any of the three figures in this set.
This set will be available 12/17 on MattyCollector.com for $30.
