Assassin's Creed Unity is out on November 11, and as the first title in the series to be exclusive to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (but not the Wii U), it brings some significant shake-ups to the formula. For a run-down of those major changes, including the new setting of revolutionary France, revamped parkour, stealth and combat systems, as well as a look at four-player co-op, check out the 101 trailer below.

If you're planning on playing Unity on PC, you may want to make sure your system is up to spec, as the requirements are quite hefty.

Also, be prepared to run the game through uPlay, as it looks unlikely Ubisoft will make Unity available on Steam.

“We’ve been in discussions with Valve about Assassin’s Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the UK,” Ubisoft said.“In the meantime, UK customers wishing to purchase the game digitally can do so by visiting the Uplay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors.”

As with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Unity will offer a season pass that will grant you access to future content. This time, it includes a new singleplayer campaign, and an entirely new China-set sidescrolling platformer.

"The next major component of Unity's DLC pass is a brand-new game called Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, which represents a standalone story set in 16th century China. The 2.5D sidescrolling game stars an Assassin named Shao Jun, a female character fans met in the Assassin's Creed Embers animated movie."

For the singleplayer story missions, Ubisoft is taking a new approach that eschews tightly scripted sequences for more open-ended assassinations.

"These big assassination missions work quite a bit differently in Unity compared to the last few entries in the series. Think of them as big, open-ended sandboxes similar to early Hitman games."

That philosophy follows on to the side missions, too, which apparently offer dozens of hours of gameplay can be experienced with three other assassins in co-op.

Even within those side missions, the time period won't be strictly limited to revolutionary France. A Time Anomalies mode shows protagonist Arno Dorian being transported to Nazi-occupied Paris in 1944.
